During June 18th – 25th 2010 Novomet engineers conducted 4 presentations-demonstrations devoted to “Testing of high efficiency ESP vs. conventional design”, held at Design Bureau “Konnas” in Moscow. These presentations were witnessed by technical specialists from the largest Russian oil companies (“Rosneft”, “Zarubezhneft”, “RussNeft”, “Lukoil”, “Gazpromneft-Khantos”, etc.)

It should be noted, that this is the first attempt to highlight this issue in such a way, namely to test simultaneously two ESP systems – one being power efficiency and the other of conventional design (NH500, 406 series, 3140 bpd, 2950 ft @50Hz) and to demonstrate in real time energetic and hydraulic parameters of both systems. After witnessing such kind of test, representatives of oil producing companies had a firsthand opportunity to calculate efficiency of new ESP design themselves.
The value was about 25% which caused a genuine interest of the customers.

There is no doubt that this presentation will contribute to broad implementation of such innovative equipment as high efficiency unit. Currently Novomet is in process of negotiations with oil companies on provision of such equipment for the whole oilfields.

Thus, the first attempt was a success, just what the Novomet representatives were hoping for. The unit will remain installed until July 18th until dismantling and replacement by a new unit. Meanwhile, Novomet representatives plan to make several more presentations on this very subject as not all persons interested were able to attend this event during “Neftegaz 2010”.

Next presentation-demonstration will be devoted to “Comparison of asynchronous and permanent magnet motor energetic characteristics” and will be held in the end of July. Since oil industry specialists show great interest in comparative test of switchboards by different manufacturers, presentations on similar topic are planned for the 3rd-4th quarter of the year. Test benches of Konnas Bureau enables accurate measurement of energetic parameters of supply voltage, produced by switchboards of various manufacturers.
