ESP systems for harsh well environments
Benefits of ESP system for harsh well environments
- It maximizes oil production
- It ensures stable operation with gassy fluids
- It is not influenced by scaling
- It is protected against clogging by proppant
- Maximum reservoir fluid temperature is 302-320°F
ESP system components
- Heat-resistant motor
- Abrasion-resistant gas separator or downhole multiphase pump
- Abrasion-resistant centrifugal-axial pump
- Downhole unit for dosing scale and corrosion inhibitor compositions and slotted screen filter
Application
- High GOR wells
- Fluid production from gas wells or their dewatering
- It is the best solution when gas releasing is impossible – due to regulation bans, set packer, offshore platforms
Advantages
- Artificial lift in wells with free gas content at pump intake up to 75%
- It increases well flow rate
- It stabilizes amp chart and enhances ESP run life
Centrifugal axial pump stages for gassy fluid pumping
- They ensure more stable operation in high GOR wells if compared with conventional centrifugal stages
Abrasion-resistant pump design
- Increased amount of abrasion-resistant intermediate bearings ensures shaft straightness
- Bearing span is sized individually for each pump model
- Flow path is increased
- Thrust force influencing impellers is reduced
Downhole unit for dosing inhibitor compositions
- Crystalline inhibitor is mixed up with high-viscosity filler with known rheological properties
- The mixture is placed into the unit with holes at the bottom, the amount and size of holes is calculated so that to ensure required dosing rate of the inhibitor
Slotted filter
- Particles exceeding 100-200 mkm do not penetrate into the pump and do not clog filtering area
- Smaller particles do not accumulate inside the filter since there are no stagnation zones
