Abrasion-resistant gas separator
Nowadays gas separator is the most frequently used gas handling device in wells with high free gas content. However, if reservoir fluid is abrasive laden, an ESP can fail due to cutting of gas separator protective sleeve and housing by abrasive flow.
NOVOMET has developed an abrasion-resistant gas separator of new design, series N92GS (OD 3.62”), N103GS (OD 4.06”), with minimized fluid vortex flow. Test results showed excellent abrasion-resistant performance. Separation efficiency has been improved by computational hydrodynamics and tested on test-benches.
Applications in severe conditions:
- High free gas content at intake
- Abrasive laden fluids
- Wells after hydraulic fracturing
Benefits
- No cutting by abrasive particles
- 85% of ultimate free gas content at intake
- Operating gassy fluid rate is up 3140 BPD
- Gas separation process has been optimized by computational hydrodynamics and has been successfully tested on separation and abrasive test benches
- Designs of pressure and separation units are unique and patented.
Range of abrasion-resistant gas separators used for gassy fluids with abrasive particles content up to 1000 mg/l:
- N103GS (OD 4.06”) – flow rate is up to 3140 BPD
- N92GS (OD 3.62”) – flow rate is up to 1900 BPD
